Tame River rapids, Study I
I’ve continued to explore the Tame River close to where I live, from the point of view of capturing instances in sound and image, then working these into sketches and studies. These have continued along the lines begun by Hockney, whom I have always admired for his experimentation with up to the minute technology and his multiple perspectives approach. I cross- applied attitudes from visual art into sound art, and vice versa, to make these examples.
To record for the audio sketch I stopped every few hundred years on a route to the river’s rapids, plus whenever a sound particularly caught my ear. I then selected and collaged the recordings and exercised some artistic licence to produce the sketch.
